The Cross Large Banner

A NEW Series begins at EDGE and CORE!

During the Easter season, most of us look at the cross with great nostalgia and gratitude, remembering all that Jesus Christ did for us. But the cross means more than that. Not only is it a place where Jesus did something for us, but it is also the place where He showed us how to die so we could truly live.

Week 1 – Sunday, March 14th:

  • THE CROSS: LIVE TO DIE – The cross isn’t just where Jesus died. It is where we come to die with Him.

Week 2 – Sunday, March 21st:

  • THE CROSS: DIE TO LIVEThe cross isn’t just where we come to die. The cross is where we come to live.

Week 3 – Sunday, March 28th:

  • THE CROSS: EXPERIENCING JESUS’ PASSIONSeven different stations where students can pause to reflect on the steps Jesus took on his way to the cross.

Week 4 – Sunday, April 4th – EASTER SUNDAYNO EDGE OR CORE

Come and join us! Sunday nights at lifechurch canton, 5:30pm!

NEW Series begins for EDGE & CORE!

PrintLOVESICK:

There’s something pretty amazing about being in love, isn’t there? The butterflies in your stomach. The dreamy gazes. No wonder so many of us are so in love with being in love. But if you look around—in the media, at school, in life—we’ve taken what God created and twisted it, morphed it and configured it into something it was never meant to be—an obsession. When romantic relationships become an obsession, balance goes out the window. We miss out on opportunities and experiences we might otherwise have had. And sometimes we even forget who we are. There’s got to be healthier way to do this. There’s got to be another way than being so lovesick.

Middle School and High School Students, join us!

We meet at lifechurch 5:30pm Sunday nights:

  • February 14th – LOVESICK (1): OBSESSEDWhen we become obsessed with relationships, we lose sight of who we are.
  • February 21st – LOVESICK (2): ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKETDating is a great thing, but it’s not everything.
  • February 28th – LOVESICK (3): LOVE STORYYou have the power to do great good or harm in your relationships.

Come check us out and bring a friend! Valentine’s Day will have a whole new meaning!

Haiti Earthquake Response

Living Water International is mobilizing to help communities in Haiti restore clean water after the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere was rocked by a catastrophic earthquake on Tuesday.

LWI had two teams on the ground drilling wells before the earthquake hit.The massive 7.3 magnitude earthquake was the strongest to hit the country in 200 years and was felt as far away as Cuba. It brought down buildings including the presidential palace, hotels, hospitals, and the UN headquarters in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital. Tens of thousands are feared dead.

LWI teams are already on the ground in the midst of unimaginable devastation to do what they can, but the problems for affected communities are only beginning. The most urgent need during the coming days and weeks will be water.

Homes can take months to re-build, electricity can take weeks to restore, but people can’t last long without water.

Earthquakes destroy water systems. Pipelines break, electrical distribution systems fail, and hand-dug wells–—already questionable water sources–—are rendered useless or become contaminated with cholera, typhoid, and other waterborne diseases.

“In Haiti, clean water is a terrible problem even at the best of times,” said LWI Executive Director Gary Evans. “After a quake like this, it’s a crisis of epic proportions.”

“This isn’t the first time we’ve been part of disaster response in Haiti,” said Evans, referring to LWI’s response to the devastating hurricane season of September 2008, when four major storms including Hurricane Ike slammed the country. “But this could be the worst we’ve seen.”

In response to the Haiti earthquake, Living Water International is setting a goal to repair 500 incapacitated handpumps in Haiti during 2010, serving at least 250,000 people.

NEW FRIEND REQUEST:

We all want friends—even if we don’t want to admit it. We all want someone to hang out with, someone to talk to, someone who knows us. But friendship requires something from us. It’s not just what we get or what makes us feel comfortable or happy. There’s a smart way to do friendship, a way with intention, a way that will draw us closer to God’s heart—if we surround ourselves with the right people. That doesn’t mean our friends have to be clones of us—but it does mean that they at least help us move in the right direction.

Session One: Accept? (Sunday, Jan. 10th)

Session Two: Respond? (Sunday, Jan. 24th)

Session Three: Ignore? (Sunday, Jan. 31st)

(JAN. 17 – SPECIAL CONCERT @ lifechurch for sr. high and LASER TAG EVENT for jr. high. Both @ 5:30pm)
