Last Series of the Year!! – TEN
Posted by Dan in Information on April 5, 2010
Thirty-five hundred years ago Moses came down from Mt. Sinai with a short list of rules that has shaped the values of people and nations for centuries. We know them as the Ten Commandments, but do we really know them? Many people believe that the rules are a condition for a relationship with God, things we must do to get in His good graces. But just the opposite is true. The relationship came before the rules. And the commandments were meant to not only reveal God’s heart, but to keep His people free.
Session One: The Rules (April 11th)
Bottom Line: Relationship always precedes rules with God.
Session Two: One & Only (April 18th)
Bottom Line: The most important decision you make is what you place in the center of your life.
Session Three: That’s Not My Name (April 25th)
Bottom Line: When you use the name of God to dodge the will of God, you will ultimately miss out on God entirely.
Session Four: Do Nothing (May 2nd) Bottom Line: When we stop and acknowledge how God has cared for us and our world, we realize who is really in control.
SUNDAY, MAY 9TH (Mother’s Day) NO EDGE/CORE
Session Five: Unto Others (May 16th)
Bottom Line: God places value on each person, and desires for everyone to be free!
EXPERIENCING Jesus’ Passion
Posted by Dan in Information on March 22, 2010
Coming up THIS Sunday, March 28th, 2010
To conclude “THE CROSS” series and to prepare for Easter, teens will be participating in an interactive prayer activity called “Experiencing Jesus’ Passion.” There are seven different stations where students can pause to reflect on the steps Jesus took on his way to the cross.
- PAINFUL THORNS: While holding stems with thorns, students will thank Jesus for enduring the pain on the cross and for taking on the “thorns” in their lives.
- NAIL OF SIN: Students will hammer nails into wood and ask forgiveness for specific sins.
- BITTER VINEGAR: Students will taste vinegar, remembering the bitter times in life and praying for God to help prevent bitterness in tough times to come.
- DISTRACTING DICE: While rolling a single die, each student will pray for God to help him or her focus on Christ.
- REMEMBER ME: While writing their names on newsprint, students will thank Jesus for loving them eternally.
- THE NEW COVENANT: Students will tear cloth and thank God for ripping through barriers in their lives.
- LIGHT OF THE WORLD: Students will light candles to symbolize the new light and life found in Christ.
Come and experience Jesus’ Passion in a whole new way!
(THERE WILL BE NO EDGE or CORE ON EASTER SUNDAY!)
Getting Ready for EASTER – The Cross
Posted by Dan in Information on March 9, 2010
A NEW Series begins at EDGE and CORE!
During the Easter season, most of us look at the cross with great nostalgia and gratitude, remembering all that Jesus Christ did for us. But the cross means more than that. Not only is it a place where Jesus did something for us, but it is also the place where He showed us how to die so we could truly live.
Week 1 – Sunday, March 14th:
- THE CROSS: LIVE TO DIE – The cross isn’t just where Jesus died. It is where we come to die with Him.
Week 2 – Sunday, March 21st:
- THE CROSS: DIE TO LIVE – The cross isn’t just where we come to die. The cross is where we come to live.
Week 3 – Sunday, March 28th:
- THE CROSS: EXPERIENCING JESUS’ PASSION – Seven different stations where students can pause to reflect on the steps Jesus took on his way to the cross.
Week 4 – Sunday, April 4th – EASTER SUNDAY – NO EDGE OR CORE
Come and join us! Sunday nights at lifechurch canton, 5:30pm!
NEW Series begins for EDGE & CORE!

There’s something pretty amazing about being in love, isn’t there? The butterflies in your stomach. The dreamy gazes. No wonder so many of us are so in love with being in love. But if you look around—in the media, at school, in life—we’ve taken what God created and twisted it, morphed it and configured it into something it was never meant to be—an obsession. When romantic relationships become an obsession, balance goes out the window. We miss out on opportunities and experiences we might otherwise have had. And sometimes we even forget who we are. There’s got to be healthier way to do this. There’s got to be another way than being so lovesick.
Middle School and High School Students, join us!
We meet at lifechurch 5:30pm Sunday nights:
- February 14th – LOVESICK (1): OBSESSED – When we become obsessed with relationships, we lose sight of who we are.
- February 21st – LOVESICK (2): ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET – Dating is a great thing, but it’s not everything.
- February 28th – LOVESICK (3): LOVE STORY – You have the power to do great good or harm in your relationships.
Come check us out and bring a friend! Valentine’s Day will have a whole new meaning!

Haiti Earthquake Response
Living Water International is mobilizing to help communities in Haiti restore clean water after the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere was rocked by a catastrophic earthquake on Tuesday.
The massive 7.3 magnitude earthquake was the strongest to hit the country in 200 years and was felt as far away as Cuba. It brought down buildings including the presidential palace, hotels, hospitals, and the UN headquarters in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital. Tens of thousands are feared dead.
LWI teams are already on the ground in the midst of unimaginable devastation to do what they can, but the problems for affected communities are only beginning. The most urgent need during the coming days and weeks will be water.
Homes can take months to re-build, electricity can take weeks to restore, but people can’t last long without water.
Earthquakes destroy water systems. Pipelines break, electrical distribution systems fail, and hand-dug wells–—already questionable water sources–—are rendered useless or become contaminated with cholera, typhoid, and other waterborne diseases.
“In Haiti, clean water is a terrible problem even at the best of times,” said LWI Executive Director Gary Evans. “After a quake like this, it’s a crisis of epic proportions.”
“This isn’t the first time we’ve been part of disaster response in Haiti,” said Evans, referring to LWI’s response to the devastating hurricane season of September 2008, when four major storms including Hurricane Ike slammed the country. “But this could be the worst we’ve seen.”
In response to the Haiti earthquake, Living Water International is setting a goal to repair 500 incapacitated handpumps in Haiti during 2010, serving at least 250,000 people.
